Hi it's me...

Coach Kate here, and I'd like to welcome you to Premier Edge Skating.  30+ years after lacing up my skates for the first time; coaching hockey players to become better ice skaters and improve their game has become my greatest passion and purpose in life.

My Story

Growing up in New Hampshire and Massachusetts it only felt natural my skating story started in an outdoor rink at age three.  After seeing how much I enjoyed being on the ice, my parents quickly registered me for a local Learn To Skate series and by age seven I was obsessed with the sport of figure skating.  While Figure Skating was an individual sport for me for many years, I always wanted to be part of something bigger in the sport.  At age 11 I joined the Ice Liners Precision Skating team and competed at the national level on their Juvenile, Novice and Junior synchronized skating teams until 2001.

With the goal of competing at the most senior level and having the chance of representing Team USA, I made the Haydenettes Synchronized Skating team, based in Lexington, MA in 2001.  In 2002 the Haydenettes won the Senior US National Championships and represented Team USA at international competitions and delivered a 4th place finish at the 2002 World Synchronized Figure Skating Championships in Rouen, France.

During my senior year of high school, a devastating car accident sidelined me from continuing to compete at the senior most level.  After recovering I went on to pass my US Figure Skating Gold Medal Field Moves and Intermediate Freestyle tests before graduation.

After graduating, I attended the University of Delaware (GO FIGHTING BLUE HENS!) and skated for UD's collegiate level synchronized skating team in my freshman and sophomore years, coming in 3rd and 5th place at the US National Championships respectively.

After taking some time away from skating; in 2018, I could no longer ignore the pull back to the ice.  I returned to the sport as a Professional Skating Coach and adult level synchronized skating competitor.   In 2020 I transitioned to working with hockey players, recognizing the importance of developing skating fundamentals.  I am currently the Skating Director for the Tri-City Eagles Youth Hockey Association, private hockey lesson coach, and Learn To Skate Instructor at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Maryland.

After a 20 year career working in corporate retail, store development, operations, and talent development, I'm now focusing full time on developing athletes.  From this Premier Edge Skating was created.  I am so excited to see what the future brings and the impact PES will have for the youth hockey community.  Away from the ice I am a mom to an incredible son and our black lab named Roxy.
